Jasmine Tabrizi

For Jasmine Tabrizi ’27, choosing Â鶹ŮÀÉ came down to its Jesuit commitment to cura personalis—care for the whole person. “I really align with that value,” she says. “It emphasizes balance—challenging yourself academically, exploring new subjects, and still dedicating time to your personal life and support network.” That holistic approach to education, which focuses equally on intellect and well-being, is what made SCU feel like the right fit.

A native of Palo Alto, California, Jasmine first learned about Santa Clara through her older sister, who graduated a few years before her. “Hearing about her experience had a really positive impact on my interest in SCU,” Jasmine shares. “She always talks about the amazing connections she made with friends and professors.” Inspired by those stories, Jasmine knew she wanted to be part of that same kind, tight-knit community.

So far, one of Jasmine’s most impactful classes has been BUSN 179: Effective Communication in Business. The course encouraged students to network with SCU alumni, an experience she found invaluable. “Through that assignment, I was able to connect with professionals working in my field of interest and gain insight from their career journeys,” she explains. “It showed me how powerful the SCU alumni network really is.”

Majoring in Marketing has also opened many doors for Jasmine. “I chose marketing because of how broadly applicable it is,” she says. “By learning the fundamentals of business, I’ll have the flexibility to explore a range of industries and find where I can make the biggest impact.” SCU’s business curriculum has given her the foundation to apply these skills in meaningful, real-world ways.

Outside the classroom, Jasmine is a Peer Health Educator at SCU’s Wellness Center, an experience she describes as deeply rewarding. “It’s given me the chance to help promote a campus culture centered around caring for yourself and others,” she says. “That’s something I’m really passionate about—it ties directly to SCU’s values and the kind of community I want to help foster.”

Jasmine also finds inspiration in the example set by Fr. Carnes, S.J., whose work focuses on building unity in a divided world. “Despite the chaos happening globally, his message is a reminder that people coming together can have a profound impact,” she reflects. “That perspective motivates me to bring empathy and collaboration into everything I do.”

Receiving the Fr. Coz Endowed Scholarship has had a tremendous impact on Jasmine’s ability to continue her education. “This scholarship has allowed me to complete the last two years of my undergraduate experience at Santa Clara,” she shares. “It’s given me and my family peace of mind during a time of financial hardship, and I’m truly grateful to have been selected to join such a wonderful community.”

Looking ahead, Jasmine hopes to “pay it forward” by contributing to the same spirit of generosity that helped her succeed. “As a student, I want to give back through my classes and campus involvement,” she says. “After I graduate, I hope to support the Fr. Coz Scholarship fund so that other students can have the same opportunities I’ve been given.”

To the donors who make the scholarship possible, Jasmine offers heartfelt gratitude: “From my family and me, thank you so much for your generosity. Your support has allowed me to continue my education at SCU and reminded me that I’m part of a community that truly cares.”

With her sights set on a future in marketing—and with growing connections in the film industry—Jasmine is eager to combine creativity, strategy, and compassion in her career. “Being chosen to receive the Fr. Coz Scholarship has been such a special experience,” she says. “It’s made me feel embraced by the SCU community, and that encouragement means the world to me.”
